Rosa Bessie (Marie Elizabeth)

There was never a birth certificate for Bessie Volante aka Ma Nardone in New Hampshire. We found a birth certificate for her being born in Newton MA 17 Jan 1901 when her parents, Vincenza Tamburro and Modesto Volante were living on West St. in Newton MA. Furthermore, Her parents were married in February 21, 1898 in Settefrati Frosinone Lazio Italy (marriage record from Settefrati). Her father Modesto left his children with his brother Peter Paul Volante and wife Caterina Lanni at 391 Dedham St. Newton MA. He returned to Italy and married Mariantonia Colaluca and they had a daughter Antonia Volante b 24 April 1911 in Settefrati died 18 dec 1968 Settefrati and she married Antonio Moldendini.

  Her mother Mariantonia Colaluca had a first husband, Antonio Palladino b 1879 died 1907 and their son as Vincenzo Palladino b 23 Oct 1902 and died 4 Nov 1961 in Fairfield Connecticut.  

   Now furthermore, Modesto and his 2nd wife Mariantonia Colaluca went to the US and took my grandmother's sister Rose b 1906 back to Italy to raise.  Later my grandmother Bessie brought her sister Rose Volante back to America where she met Patrizio Meta and married him and later they moved to Michigan. Descendants of Rose Volante told us that Modesto G Volante died in a horse and buggy accident in Italy. 

   I have the birth certificate for Rosa Bessie, and her records do not obviously match what she stated on her other records.  It was fairly impossible for my grandmother to have been born in New Hampshire in 1898 because her mother Vincenza Tamburro was still in Italy and was only 15 years old, and did not marry Modesto G Volante until 21 Feb 1898 in Settefrati, Frosinone, Lazio Italy.  We believe the fact she was orphaned young she did not understand everything, and that Caterina assumed Bessie was a nick name for Elizabeth. In the 1910 census Bessie, her brother Domenick and sister Rose were at the house with Peter and Caterina Volante at 391 Dedham St.  Shortly after that, Modesto and Mariantonia came and took Rose back to Italy, and Domenick Volante was adopted out to some folks in California.
