public profile
After Morris died in 1918, Rose (who was a talented needleworker) opened a notions shop on the lower East Side.
Rose was left with two small boys to raise. She must have been very capable and resourceful because she was a business woman (the dry goods store) and politician as well as mother. She was also very active in the Jewish Ladies Aid Society (Hadassah). She even became president and was honored because of the social work she did.
