Her parents moved to Quincy, Iowa, when she was a young girl She passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Effie Havens in Villisca, Iowa, Thursday evening where she was taken Wednesday evening for medical aid. She was stricken suddenly ill. Although her health had been failing, she had been up and around. She was 83 years, 11 months, and 10 days of age.

She was united in marriage to William E. Archer on June 26, 1879 at Quincy, Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death 23 years ago. Surviving are 4 living children; Mrs. Ernest Hoop of Bedford, Iowa, Ray Archer of Red Oak, Iowa, Mrs. Joe Peterson, Villisca, Iowa, and Vernon Archer of Corning, Iowa. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Effie Havens of Villisca. Two sisters preceded her in death, Mrs. Emma Woody and Mrs. Hattie Zuber. There are also nieces, nephews, and friends left to mourn her death.

She made her home with her children since the death of her husband, residing in Adams and Montgomery Counties. Having spent a few weeks at the home of her son, Ray and his wife in Red Oak, she had returned to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Peterson, where she was stricken with her fatal illness. Hers was a long life always busy. She was one of the pioneers of the state.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Services were conducted by Rev. Joe Tom Tate with singing Mr. Cecil Weaver accompanied by Mrs. Francis Wheeler. Pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased; Dale Hoops, Merle Hopes, Theodore Peterson, Dean Archer, Duane Archer, and Donald Peterson. She was laid to rest in the cemetery in Quincy, Iowa.
