Royal Benjamin Watkins

According to his nephew,  Royal was a decorated soldier.  He enlisted in WW1 .  He was cited for some heroism after an explosion.  He helped carry out the injured, and was himself injured.  He received a pension and was a wounded veteran.

He had blue eyes and dark hair. He drove an ice wagon. His left arm and right foot were crippled. He took in Clifford and Edward after he married. Got all that from his WW1 draft registration card & 1920 census

 He was married to Myrtle, but they divorced and she had all family bible.

 He once swam accross the Mississippi 8 times in a row.
