Ruby Ione Boutilier

Ruby I. Boutilier, 98, Granville, North Dakota, passed away January 16, 2016, in a Granville foster care home.

Ruby was born on January 15, 1918, in Upham, North Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Kitzman) McCabe.

She was raised in Upham, North Dakota and graduated from Granville High School. After graduating from high school Ruby worked on a cook car for the threshing crew and a local restaurant.

Ruby was united in marriage to Russell Boutilier on December 19, 1938, in Towner, North Dakota. The couple made their home on the Boutilier family farm just southeast of Granville, North Dakota, where they farmed and raised livestock. Ruby and Russell retired in the mid-80’s and moved into their new home in Granville, North Dakota. Russell passed away on January 25, 2009. Ruby continued to live in her home until December of 2011, and later entered Granville Elder Care.

Ruby enjoyed gardening, playing cards, canning tending to her flower beds and cooking. She had two apple trees in her back yard that supplied her with and endless apples for baking and cooking. Ruby was an excellent cook and baker.

She was an active member at Hope Congregational Church the Women’s Society and the Granville Senior Citizens.

Survivors: son, Gregg (Mary) Boutilier, Granville, North Dakota; grandchildren, Les (Christi), Brad (Lynnell) and john (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Monica (Calvin) Freed, Chase, Stewart, Cole, Ashley, Cooper, Reed and Kinley and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, infant son, Kent Boutilier, parents, siblings, Sadie Livingston-Colvin, Irene Olson, Lorene Helvey, Arlene McCabe, Merle Farr, Chester McCabe and Francis McCabe.
