Rudolph Preiswerk

Rudolf, in marrying Celestine Allenspach, received a large dowry from her father, a wealthy farmer. He used part of it to buy a shop selling exotic spices and expensive cheese in the well-to-do St. Alban district, and the rest to subsicize another career, as a successful dealer in cast iron and artisanal metalwork.

He also bought a large estate called Margareten, where he and Celestine lived with their fifteen children and assorted relatives, including the increasingly odd brother of Antistes Samuel Jun, Great Uncle Alexander.
