About Rupert de Lacy Peek
Rupert married Elizabeth Maud Ashford in Sydney in 1906 and had three children. He married a second wife Emily Aldina Nobbs who bore him eight more.
Rupert, like John Harold, fought in the Boer War. He enlisted as a trooper-bugler in A squadron NSW Citizens Bushmen and sailed from Australia in February 1900 aged 17. He was invalided home on 13 December 1900 by which time he had gained several medals. He was one of 105 NSW Citizens Bushmen besieged at the Eland's River Post between 1 and 16 August 1900. The post was successfully defended and relieved by a force sent by Kitchener.
