Services for Russell J. Vaughan, 97, of Muskogee will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Muskogee First Baptist Church with Drs. Bob Woods and Stanley Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with Dub West, Russell Anderson, Clay DaVault, Albert Cohea, Spiegle Bond, Tom Grubbs and Scott Milsap as pallbearers. Bradley Funeral Service will be in charge. Born July 17, 1888, in Unedilla, Neb., Vaughan was the son of Charles E. and Lilly Vaughan and died Saturday morning in Muskogee Regional Medical Center. He was reared and educated in Nebraska. He was married to Eloise Ege 16 years; she died in 1929. He and Harriett Ege were married May 10, 1930, in Albuquerque, N.M., and they lived in Shiprock, N.M., until 1939 when they moved to Muskogee. Harriet died Dec. 17, 1969. A retired accountant for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, his life was centered around his church, First Baptist Church. He was a poet and carpenter. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Biggs of Muskogee and Ruth Adams of Maryneal, Texas; two sons, Robert M. of Wichita, Kan., and Charles David of Muskogee; 10 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. – Muskogee Daily Phoenix - Monday, February 24, 1986.
