About Ruth Douglas

APPLE CREEK -- Ruth Nussbaum Nickles, 91, Apple Creek, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Summa Health System in Akron.

She was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Dalton, the daughter of Robert and Clara (Hauenstein) Douglas, and was united in marriage to Orrie Nussbaum on Nov. 10, 1947. He died in 1967. In 1995, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Nickles. He died in 1999.

Ruth was a graduate of Dalton High School and Cincinnati Bible College. She had been employed at Rubbermaid Inc., Wooster, for more than 20 years before her retirement.

She was a member of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Orrville, where she had been active in the children's ministry and women's group. Ruth was well-known for her cake decorating and enjoyed baking, ceramics, her family, and her dog Chip.

Surviving are daughters Hope (Dave) Kaufman of Kidron and Melody (Dave) Kendall-Colter of Zanesville; sons David (Brenda) Nussbaum of Orrville, Mike (Michele) Nussbaum of Jackson, Tenn., and Steve (Mim) Nussbaum of Kidron; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by parents, five sisters and a brother.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Orrville, with pastor Paul Simonsen officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Kidron Mennonite Church Cemetery, before the services.
