About Sabina Walther
Reference # 204 is her birth record in the Evangelisch (Lutheran) church books from Schirnding, Kreis Wunsiedel, Bavaria., a little over a mile from the border of the Czech Republic. This birth record explains a long-standing mystery of just who her parents were. Note that she was born three years before the marriage of Madalena Meichner and Johann Georg Rausch. Translated from German, it says in part: "Sabina Meichner illegitimate born here the 20th October 8 O' Clock, baptised Oct 30 it the church. Mother: Magdalena Meichner the eldest daughter of the Johann Nicol Meichner, farmer and half farm owner and his wife Margareth Barbara Meichner, born Riess from here. ..." Since she later went by the name Rausch, I assume that her mother's later husband adopted her.
Born on the 27th of October in Thurstein, Bavaria. In 1846 she came with her parents and a sister to America and moved to Helenville, WI, where they found their new home. Here she had the holy experience and joined the Luther Evangelistic Church and was faithful with God and the church until her end. She was one of the first members of the old Jefferson district. In 1847 she married Rev John Walther. This marriage was blessed with 10 children
