BASSETT - Sally Emma Thompson Cannaday, 88, of Rt. 2, Bassett, Blackberry community, died Sunday, June 19 at her home.
She was a homemaker and had been ill several years.
She was born in Franklin County Oct. 14, 1905, daughter of the late Major Bunyan and Betty Beulah (Sis) Farner Thompson. Also preceding her in death was daughter, Betty Sue Cannaday, and a son, Bunyan Allen Cannaday.
She was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie E. Cannaday; two daughters, Mrs. William (Inza) Belcher and Mrs. Jack (Faye) Handy, both of Bassett: five sons, Euell N. Cannaday of Patrick Springs, Charles S. Cannaday, E. Leon Cannaday, Joel M. Cannaday and Paul L. Cannaday, all of Bassett; 13 grandchildren: 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Silas (Jacqueline) Stone and Mrs. Calie (Dirvie) Hall, both of Bassett; one brother, William B. Thompson of Preston; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Hilda C. Thompson and Mrs. Hazel G. Thompson, both of Bassett.
The funeral will be conducted today (Wednesday, June 22) at 11 a.m. at Collins Funeral Services in Bassett by Elder Leonard Brammer. Burial will be in Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
Collins Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Sally Emma Thompson Cannaday, 88, of Rt. 2, Mockingbird Lane, Bassett, died Sunday, June 19, 1994, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born Oct. 14, 1905, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Major Bunyan Thompson and the late Betty Beulah (Sis) Farner Thompson. She also was preceded in death by a son, Bunyan Allen Cannaday. She was a Primitive Baptist.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home on Mockingbird Lane.

The funeral for Emma T. Cannaday, 88, of Bassett, who died Sunday, June 19, 1994, was held Wednesday at Collins Funeral chapel, Bassett. Elder Leonard Brammer officiated. Burial was in Blackberry Baptist Church cemetery.
