About Salomon Weil
The devastating traces of war could be seen in the German Palatinate after the invasion of the French republicans. Three entries in Mannheim Memorial book give us an idea of the prevailing terror of that time period. Salomon Weil son of Assistant Rabbi and Rabbinic Judge Josel Weil of Friedelsheim near Durkheim, a pious and learned man, who was almost 40 years Torah reader in his home town, fled from the terrible consequences of the war to Mannheim, however, where he soon fell ill and on 21 April 1794 in the entered eternal rest. His mother Miriam, the daughter of Naftali Levi from Türkheim, fled with her son to Mannheim and followed him soon after the June 2, 1794 in the grave. The siege and bombardment of Mannheim by the Imperial forces troops also required among the Jews their sacrifice.
