About Sam Sachnowitz

The Sachnowitz family immigrated to the United States from Russia in the early 1900’s. Sam was a veteran of World War II where he served in Okinawa. He was an independent businessman for many years owning and operating well-known retail shoe stores in San Antonio, Texas. Sam was a pioneer and opened one of the very first suburban shoe stores in the city in 1950. The Sachnowitz family were members of the Congregation Temple Beth-El for almost 50 years. His family included his wife of over 50 years, Lucille R. Harris Sachnowitz, and two sons, Larry Joseph and Gary Wayne.
