LOMA LINDA MAN DIES AFTER CAR STRIKES HIM

OCEANSIDE – A 55-year-old Loma Linda man was killed in a traffic accident Friday night near the intersection of North El Camino Real and North Douglas Drive.
At 9:39 p.m., Samo Pelicon was struck by a passing car as he stood outside his disabled Honda Accord on the right shoulder of southbound Douglas Drive.
Advertisement Oceanside police said the accident occurred when a 23-year-old Oceanside man inexplicably veered his car to the right. The driver, who had an unrelated outstanding warrant for felony theft, was arrested.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Investigators have not decided whether the driver will face charges related to the accident.
Pelicon died at the scene.
At the time of the accident, a 10-year-old girl was seated in the Accord, but she was not injured. The girl was the daughter of the Pelicon's fiancee.
