About Samuel Bringhurst, Sr.
He was a wagon and carriage builder and conducted that business at Lionville, Chester County, PA until 1845 when he and his wife joined the Mormon Church and moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. In the exodus of the Mormons to the West in 1847, he and his family removed to Salt Lake Valley and endured the hardships incident to the settlement of a new country.
