Biography

Birth

Samuell Fitch, s. of Samuel, born Mar. 4, 1673-4.[1]

Marriages

His first marriage was to Elizabeth Walker 20 Mar 1695/6 in Bellerica, Massachusetts.[2] She died 26 November 1716, and he subsequently married Eunice (Rogers) Marshall, widow of John Marshall. A daughter named Elizabeth was born to Samuel and Eunice Fitch on 22 September 1718, in Billerica, Massachusetts.[3]

Samuel Fitch did not marry Eunice Taylor

Despite claims made in the Fitch Genealogy p. 8[4] and the History of the Town of Bedford p. 10[5] Samuel Fitch did not marry Eunice Taylor. Samuel and Eunice Fitch had a daughter Elizabeth born in 1718[6] Eunice Taylor was still married to William Clarke in 1720, when the heirs of her father John made an agreement to settle his estate.[7] Her gravestone also calls her Eunes Clarke relict of William Clarke,[8] proving she remained William's wife until his death.

Death

Samuel was a resident of Bedford, Massachusetts, when he wrote his will on 13 November 1741.[3] He died at Bedford on 4 April 1742.[9] The will was proved on 7 June 1742.[10]
