Samuel [3] Hall (Samuel [2] George [1]) Born 11 December 1664 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA. Samuel died 7 May 1733 in Enfield, CT. Married Elizabeth Bourne in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA 7 April 1686 (NGSQ 81:19) Elizabeth was born 7 April 1658. We have no death or burial records for Elizabeth to date, though we know she died before 1708, when Samuel marries Sarah Rising.

There were apparently two Samuel Halls born in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts just a few years apart from each other. Quoting from an email by John Tinkham: "..., and one of them moved with an Elizabeth to CT, and did marry #2 Sarah Rising; the other Samuel remained in Taunton/ Raynham MA. One was born 1656; the other 1664. One married Elizabeth Bourne; the other married Abigail Pratt. I come from the one who stayed in MA. One was son of Edward, the other was son of Samuel Sr. [married to Elizabeth White]"

"The information you have on Samuel Hall born 1664 being married to Abigail Pratt is in error. He was married to Elizabeth Bourn(e). Samuel Hall, born 1656, son of Edward Hall of Rehoboth was married to Abigail Pratt. This has been proven through several sources including a land record which stated, "Samuel Hall, son of Edward Hall of Rehoboth, and his wife Abigail..... "which can be found in the land deeds at the Taunton Town Hall."

Origins

Samuel Hall was born on 11 Dec 1644 in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts to [George and Mary Hall, who had emigrated from England in 1636.] [sic] According to Rev. Hall's book, Samuel Hall's homestead in Taunton was about a mile east of his father's, and near the bloomery (iron works) in which he was largely interested; he was a large landholder, sharing in the "Taunton North and South Purchases" and also inheriting and purchasing in the original tract. He held minor offices in town and was a memberr of the original church, and he contributed four acres towards improving the parsonage for Rev. Samuel Danforth. On 8 Apr 1682 he is listed on the 4th squadron of the Military Company of Taunton, but on 28 Oct 1684 was freed from training for being hard of hearing and having three sons of age and able to bear arms. Samuel Hall was married to Elizabeth White, daughter of Nicholas White and Susanna Humphrey, on 20 Mar 1663/1664 in Taunton. They were the parents of nine children. The will of Samuel Hall, Sr., of Taunton, was dated 25 Jan 16891690 and he died between that date and 19 May 1690, when it was probated. His son John and his wife were named as Executors.
