Samuel Hogue, a farmer, was born on 26 Feb 1802. Some researchers say that he was born in Ireland, but in census information, Samuel always declares his birthplace to be Kentucky.
Independence, Coles, Illinois 1850 Census: Hoge, Samuel 47 M Ky Farmer
Ashmore, Coles, Illinois 1860 Census: HOGE, SAML 58 M W KY
Ashmore, Coles, Ill 1870 Census: Hogue, Samuel 68 M Ky Farmer
Samuel married Letitia Ashmore in Clark County, Illinois in 1824. The family is said to have arrived in Coles County in 1834, but some of their children were born there before 1834. So there is some confusion to be cleared up there.
Samuel died on 6 Jan 1873 in Coles County, Illinois, and he was buried in St. Omar Cemetery, Ashmore.
