About Samuel Husk, Sr.
http://www.doddridgecountyroots.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I779...
DOB unknown: 17__?
Wife- Elizabeth ___, b. CA 1785, Pennsylvania d. Aft Jun 1846 (Age ~ 61 years)
His father, "Frederick Husk (or Hust) apparently settled near the mouth of Dolls Run [in what is now the north central part of West Virginia]. In some old deeds, that stream is called Hust's Run, but the family long ago passed out of the community, and even the name applied to the stream did not stick. The last property passed out of the hands of the family on June 6, 1846, when Elizabeth Husk, widow of Samuel Husk, and the other heirs, Frederick Husk and Nancy his wife, Isaac Husk and Jane his wife, George Britton and Mary his wife, Samuel Husk and Dorcas his wife, Horatio Britton and Elizabeth his wife, transferred 100 acres to Solomon Bowers." ["Chronicles of Core," 3rd Edition, by Earl L. Core, McClain Printing Company, Parsons, WV, 1975, p. 35]
6 Children:
1. Frederick HUSK, b. 7 Sep 1815
2. Isaac HUSK, b. 12 Jan 1818, Greene Co, PA
3. Mary J. "Polly" HUSK, b. 21 Mar 1821, d. 15 Dec 1869
4. Samuel A. HUSK, b. 8 Jun 1823, Monongalia Co, (W)VA
5. Elizabeth HUSK, b. CA 1825, d. CA 1865, Monongalia Co, (W)VA
6. Sarah Anne HUSK, b. 6 Feb 1828, Monongalia Co, (W)VA
Samuel Husk predeceased his father, Frederick, who had died prior to June 1848. Since Elizabeth appeared in the 1830 Census as the head of family, we must assume that Samuel had already died by then.
1830 Census, Western District of Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia): Household of Elizabeth Husk: 1 female, age 60-69 (is this Elizabeth's mother or mother-in-law ?) 1 female, 40-49 (this would be Elizabeth herself) 2 females, 5-9 (daughters Mary & Elizabeth) 1 female, under 5 (daughter Sarah) 1 male, 15-19 (son Frederick) 2 males, 10-14 (son Isaac, and another son ?) 1 male, 5-9 (son Samuel)
1840 Census, Western District of Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia): Household of Elizabeth Husk: 1 female age 50-60 (this would be Elizabeth herself) 1 female, 20-30 (dau Mary) 1 female, 15-20 (dau Elizabeth) 1 female, 10-15 (dau Sarah) 1 male, 20-30 (son Frederick) 2 males, 15-20 (son Samuel, and another son ?) (Note: If ages are correct, son Isaac is not accounted for in this census.)
The next-listed household is for Harvey Husk, with the following members: 1 male, age 20-30 3 males, under 5 1 female, 20-30 1 female, under 5
We have not been able to determine how this Harvey Husk fits in with the other Husks of this genealogy. Could he be the "other son" in the 1830 Census?
