Biography

Samuel Joy was born at Boston, Feb. 26, 1638-39. He was a son of of Thomas Joy and Joan Gallop.

Samuel married in Hingham, Nov. 13, 1668, Ann, daughter of Edmund and Ann Pitts. She was baptized in Hingham Dec. 22, 1644, and surviving him, married secondly, Apr. 5, 1678, Benjamin Eastman.

Samuel died 1670 or 1671. On "the 29th day of the 4th month, 1671, and Joy, widow, was appointed to administer upon the estate of her husband, Samuel Joy, late of Boston, deceased." The inventory, which included a small piece of land in Hingham, was presented 29 June, 1671.
