Samuel Kall

He was born in Russia, but the part of Russia in the 1880s may now be Kiev Ukraine, or Minsk. Not sure. Was a soldier in the Czar's army. The story goes that there was a pogrom in the shtetl (village) where he lived and he protected his people, killing the officer heading the pogrom, so he HAD to leave Russia. His name on his wedding invitation is Samuel Calchinsky, so I assume he had it changed when he went through Ellis Island. (rob kall)
