About Samuel Lewis Baraf
Samuel Baraf was the son of Louis and Libba Bloom Baraf. He was born in Dora Hy Roumania in 1901. He came to the USA in 1902, when he was two years old. When they came to the USA they moved to Red Hook in Brooklyn New York. His Father owned a dry goods store in downtown Brooklyn. Sam went to Antioch College where he studied romance languages. After Antioch he returned and finished up his degree at City College of New York. After that, he took a fellowship at Yale University teaching romance languages. After college he went into the electronics business and eventually founded United Transformer Corporation with a partner named Al Mitchel in 1930. The company was eventually sold to TRW in 1967 .
