About Samuel Slocum
Samuel Slocum was born in Bennington Township, Vermont 21 February 1770; was married at Conajoharie, N.Y., 4 Jan 1805, to Elizabeth, daughter of John Whitney, formerly of New Hampshire. After the marriage, they removed to a farm in Martinsburgh Township, Lewis County, N.Y., and there resided until the year 1842, when they removed to the adjoining township of Greig, where they died - he, 22 March 1864; she, 11 April 1870. They were buried in Martinsburgh. He held a commission in the War of 1812.
