Believe I have identified the Samuel Wilbur that made will in 1811. He has to be desc ofSamuel Wilbor b. 1692, through one of the sons who settled in Dutchess co., NY, possibly Robert, or Esek,(both had Samuels) rather than linked to Samuel Willbur who m. Hannah Wilcoxin 1751 at Little Compton, RI.

I think an error was made in the Wildbores of America series, that tied together two separate Samuels, both living in Dutchess county, NY, (probably cousins)

Samuel Wilbur, who married Hannah Wilcox, in RI, 1751, probably married second, a woman named Susannah, and he died in 1798, having written his will in 1792 at Canaan, Columbia Co., NY.

I have an excellent copy of this will, and have no difficulty reading the name of the woman who survived. It is definitely Susannah. It also names his children, Samuel, Elizabeth, who married Goodfellow, Hannah, who married Pitts, and Sarah, a single woman.

Of interest is the name of one witness: Ezra Baker. This is further evidence that the second wife might have been Mrs. Susannah Baker, since one Susannah Baker had a son she named Ezra. Further search found a Quaker marriage for 1789, at Nine Parnters Monthly Meeting, for Susannah Baker and Samue Wilbur of Canaan. It lists withnesses as Phebe Mosher, Phebe Merritt, Martha Palmer, Mary Mosher, Ruth Cornell, William Mitchell, Benjamin Mosher, Tripp Mosher, Philip Mosher, Zopher Green, William Valentine, David haight, and Joaiah Haight. But then, from the BAKER families section in Frank Doherty's Settlers of Beekman Patent v. 2, he says Susanna Baker m. Daniel Wilbur 1789 [9PMM].

Does anyone have other data that would identify Susannah, named as wife in the will of Samuel Willbur of Canaan, NY?
