About Sarah Alling

Seargent Samuel Alling, 1st, Blacksmith, made no will. He married Elizabeth, daughter of John Winston, who bore him seven sons, and soon after Daniel was born in 1682, He married Sarah, daughter of Deacon John Chedsey, by whom he had one son and three daughters. On the 20th Oct, 1709, she was appointed administrator and Joseph Moss and John Punderson, appraisers. Estate inventoried 526 pounds, Roger, 3rd child, had already received his part. The other eight children 48 pounds each. John was given a right in the homestead (corner Church & Center streets), 2 acres in the Meadows at West Side, 1 acre in town and eight acres near Roger's farm. (Allingtown). Danile & Caleb, land at Oyster Point. In 1711 Caleb & Esther chose Sarah, their mother, to be their guardian. Samuel Alling 1st, had seven sons & three daughters, and all had families, given in this book, heading lines that extend down to the present. Samuel 2d, the eldest son, settled in Newark, New Jersey, John at Elizabeth, New Jersey, James at Wallingford, Connecticut, Roger 3rd at Allingtown, Theophilus at Allingtown, but removed to East Haven, Daniel at Orange, and Caleb at Hamden.
