DEATHS
Sarah Delilah Barker was born on October 31, 1850 in the state of Ohio. Died at Paradise, Kansas April 28, 1921 at the age of 70 years 5 months and 28 days. She moved from Ohio with her parents in early childhood to Wisconsin. She was the youngest child of a family of eight, all of whom preceeded her to a better world except one sister, Mrs. Lucretia Johnson of Long Beach, California. She was married to J.M. Hendershott April 2, 1870. To this union two sons and one daughter were born, one son dying in infancy. She moved with her family to Kansas in May, 1885, where she resided on a farm near Paradise until eight years ago, when she moved to Paradise. She leaves to mourn her a husband, one son and one daughter, all of whom were at her bedside when she passed away, also a sister and eleven grandchildren. Sister Hendershott will be greatly missed by the people of Paradise, who with the bereaved husband and children mourn the loss of one so loving and kind. May we not all strive to live so that when we may meet our sainted friends where there will be no more farewells spoken. After all, death is the only door to eternal life if we can say as could be said of sister Hendershott, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." The funeral sermon was preached by her pastor from the text just given. After the serviced, which were held in the M. E. Church, witnessed by a very large crowd, the remains were followed to the cemetery by a large number of friends and neighbors.
