About Sarah Byrd

Many genealogies show her surname as Frierson. However, there is no proof of that.

It has been assumed that she was the daughter of Aaron Frierson. However, that Sarah Frierson married a Wiliam BEARD, later the executor of Aaron Frierson's estate.

She did name a son or grandson (more research needed) Samuel Ephraim Frierson Byrd. A connection to the Friersons, if any, has yet to be determined. Can you help? Let us know!

I am about the stir the waters over the wife of George Byrd b. 1763 the son of George Byrd and Sarah Commander. I can prove that Sarah Frierson the daughter of Aaron Frierson from Sumter County South Carolina married William Beard.

From the Deeds when George b. 1763 was selling his father lands in 1813, his wife Sarah signed away her portion by signing the deeds as Sarah P. Byrd. Did that P. stand for her middle name or surname Prothero? Porcher? Don't Know.

When Mead Frierson the Frierson Family Historian was alive we searched high and low for a single you woman who could have been Sarah P and could not find one. However we didn't look for a WIDOW Frierson.

I am wondering if Sarah P didn't die somewhere on the trail west. Perhaps in Alabama, where I know some of the Frierson family had already relocated or even in Mississippi. It would have been natural for a widower to have remarried and a widow would have need to remarry as soon as possible to secure her inheritance. This second marriage to a Widow Frierson would explain the memory of a grandmother Frierson in the western families. The grandchildren would not have known Sarah P. and Widow Frierson would have finished raising and teenagers left by Sarah P.

Has anyone found the estates for George and his last wife?
