Captain William Hackett was a mariner who commanded the sloop Endeavor of Salsbury. [1] He was likely born in England between 1640-3, and was of Amesbury, Massachusetts by 1664.

He married Sarah Barnard/Barnett at Salisbury, Massachusetts on January 31, 1667. [1] [4] Sarah was born at Salisbury on September 28, 1647, daughter of Thomas and Elinor (___) Barnard. [5] He was likely born in England between 1640-3. [2] After her husband’s death, widow Elinor marriage George Little. In her will written on July 3, 1695, Elinor left bequests to her children including daughter Sarah Hacket. [5] [6] [2]

On February 20, 1685/6, William Hacket and Sarah, his wife, acknowledged to the court that they had received 'their full satisfaction' out of the estates of their mother Elinor Little and of their father Thomas Barnard. [7] [2]

William died at Salisbury on March 3, 1712/3. [4] [2]

William's will was written on December 4, 1712. In it he left bequests to:

  • beloved wife Sarah
  • son Judah, sole executor
  • son William
  • son Ebenezer
  • daughter Sarah
  • daughter Catorn(sic)/Katherine [8]

His estate was inventoried on March 6, 1713 and was assessed at L170 17s 38d. [8]

Widow Sarah died there on September 10, 1717.
