Sarah (Miller) Hutton's Will:

The 24th day of the 4th month 1761. I Sarah Hutton of Maiden Creek in the County of Berks, widow, being weak of Body but of sound mind and memory, Do make and Declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following after my Just Debts & Funeral Expenses are fully paid & discharged. That is to say, First I give and Bequeath unto my Son John Hutton the Sum of Twenty Shillings money of Pennsylvania to be allowed out of the money which he my said Son oweth unto me & _______________. Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Son James Hutton the sum of Twenty Shillings money aforesaid to be paid by my Executor here in after named (and it is my desire that it may not be Judged by any that these Small Sums left to my Sons is either on account of Disobedience in them to me or Disaffection in me to them; But knowing the Larger Share they Enjoy of their Father's Estate and that it was So Left their Father to Enable them to hold his Lands which otherwise he thought they could not for this reason. I Judge it Just and Reasonable in me to dispose of the Chief part of my Estate to my Daughters which I do in the manner following. That is, I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah the Sum of Ten pounds money of Pennsylvania and to my Daughter Tamar the Sum of Twenty pounds like money and my will is That all the residue or remainder of my Estate of what kind or nature soever shall be Divided in Seven Equal parts one Seventh part to be Equally Divided amongst my other Six Daughters, Viz, Mary, Sarah, Abigail, Deborah, Martha and Tamar.
Lastly I do make and Appoint my Son John Hutton my Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, provided always and my will is that he (my said Executor)shall not by virtue of the said Executorship and Trust have and enjoy any more of my Estate or the money which he oweth unto me than what is here in before Bequeathed unto him and reasonable charges for his Trouble any law or custom to the Contrary notwithstanding. In witness whereof I have Hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Day and Year above written. The Mark and Seal of Sarah S Hutton Signed, Sealed, published & Declared by the said Sarah Hutton as her Last Will & Testament in the presence of us. Moses Harr, Mordecai Lee, Francis Parvin. Will proved, Reading Berks County Pennsylvania. 21st Day of May 1767
