About Sarah Hart Lewis
Nathaniel Lewis arrived in 1791 with his wife Sarah Cole, in the Susquehanna River Valley from Vermont. His sister Elizabeth Lewis (b. 1767 Wells, VT) had married Isaac Hale, father of Emma Hale Smith, in Vermont. They were the first permanent white settlers of the Susquehanna Valley.
