Sarah Alfreretta Acheson was born at Herman, Minnesota, September 14, 1880 and died in Westhope, North Dakota, June 23, 1921.
She lived in Minnesota until 1886 when she accompanied her parents to Virden, Manitoba and coming to Bottineau County in 1893. She was married March 12, 1896 to Neil Matteson of Westhope, North Dakota.
She made her home in this country until the spring of 1907 when she moved with her husband to Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan. There they resided until 1911 when they returned to Bottineau County and resided in Richburg Township, near Westhope, North Dakota since.
Mrs Matteson was the mother of twelve children, two of whom preceded her to Great Beyond. She was a woman of sterling worth and had many friends who will miss her greatly.
Mrs Matteson took sick Sunday June 19th with blood poison and owing to her weakened condition at that time and never rallied and passed away June 23rd.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and ten children, her aged parents Mr and Mrs Jas. Acheson of Souris, North Dakota; two sisters, Mrs N. H. McKinnon, Tabor, Alberta; Mrs M. D. Fletcher, Coultervale, Manitoba; four brothers, Sam Acheson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Gordon Acheson and Howard Acheson, Souris, North Dakota; and T. D. Acheson of Bottineau, North Dakota.
One sister, Mrs William Riedler died in 1916.
