Daughter of Rev. David Blythe, Baptist preacher and veteran of War of 1812. First husband was Thomas Brumett Mayfield, buried in Overton, Tex. Cem. They were married in 1854, came immediately to Texas, and settled on a farm 5 miles east of Overton. Their son, Col. John Blythe Mayfield, was my great-grandfather. Her second husband was Judge A.J. Smith, who was the son of General James Smith, after whom Smith County, Texas was named.
