About Sarah Moulton
From FindAGrave:
Sarah and her husband, Thomas Moulton, joined the LDS Church in England. For years, wanting to come to Utah to be near the Saints, Sarah saved every penny she could in a fruit jar she kept carefully hidden from her family. When the Perpetual Emigration Fund was announced, she brought out the jar and the family started saving in earnest. The Moultons sailed to America on the Thornton. Sarah's son, Charles Alma, was born three days after they set sail from Liverpool.
The Moultons crossed the plains with the Willie Handcart Company. By the time they reached Utah baby Charles was so frail one could hold him up toward the sun and see light through his emaciated body.
Sarah and her family first settled in Utah County but later moved to the fort in Heber. She and her husband built the old red stone house that is on the corner of 2nd west and 2nd north, Heber.
Thomas and Sarah's children were:
- Mary Ann (Moulton) Giles
- William Denton Moulton
- Joseph Moulton
- James Heber Moulton
- Charlotte (Moulton) Carroll
- Sophie Elizabeth (Moulton) Hicken
- Charles Alma Moulton
- Thomas Denton Moulton
- George Franklin Moulton
- John Ephraim Moulton
She also raised a step-daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Moulton) Hawkins.
Among Sarah's descendants is the award-winning actor Amy Adams, Sarah's third-great-granddaughter.
