Sarah Newton (Tomlin)

Sarah Tomlin was born April 15, 1708 in Marlborough, Massachusetts to Isaac Tomlin of Brookfield, Massachusetts and Mary (Wait) Tomlin of Marlborough. She is listed in the Rice General Register as "Sarah of Westborough."

On December 26,1728, Sarah was married to Elisha Newton in Shrewsbury, Worcester, Massachusetts by minister Job Cushing. Sarah and Elisha had six children, all born at Shrewsbury:

• Timothy Newton, born May 17, 1737; married Huldah Wheelock on November 20, 1762 (marriage banns published) at Shrewsbury; died June 31, 1818 at Hubbardston, Massachusetts
• Solomon Newton, born January 28, 1740 or 1741; married Lydia Rice on December 5, 1782 at Worcester, Massachusetts; died May 28, 1822 at Shrewsbury
• Charles Newton, born August 28, 1742; married Tabitha Bowker in 1765 at Westborough; died December 10, 1831 at Princeton, Massachusetts
• Mary Newton, born September 24, 1717; married Asa Mixer on November 26, 1765 at Shrewsbury; died February 20, 1792 at Shrewsbury
