About Sarah Tenenbaum

MEDICAL- Went blind from glaucoma

Sarah was very cheap but also very wealthy. She was the first of the Kailes family to come over from Russia. Then Molly came to live with her. Sarah was kind of nasty and cheap and bossy and arrogant. When Molly, her sister lived with her, she had Molly do all the work. She had her carry the baby carriage up and down the five story walk up. Molly was very small (5'2) Sarah was a Big woman over 6 feet tall. So one day Molly gave the baby carriage a push (when the baby was not in it of course) and it went all the way down all five flights denting it the whole way. After that she never asked Molly to do it again.

When Molly (at aprox. age 18) had tooth problems, instead of having her one tooth filled, Sarah told the dentist to pull every tooth in her mouth and give her dentures.

When Karen Lavit Michaels Moss was born everyone sent beautiful gifts. Sarah sent a cheap baby dress from Woolworths with the price tag still on it ($1.37) However when Sarah would go shopping with them in New York for her own daughter, Tillie, she is remembered to have bought a neglige set for ($99.00)

SOURCE - Susan Lavit Rosenberg as told to her by her grandmother Molly Kailes Lavit

Sarah later had glaucoma and went blind. They brought her to Dr. Schoenberg to operate, but they could not fix her vision because the nerve was already destroyed. Sarah demanded her money back for the surgery because he could not restore her sight. She did not get it. - SOURCE Rabbi Gary Lavit.
