About Sarah Vassall
Sally was also a school teacher and helped teach Clara literature and how to read. She quit teaching when she got married. Clara stayed close to Sally as she grew up. In 1861 Sally lived near Clara in Washington DC and helped collect food, clothing, and medical supplies for the soldiers.
Sally married Vester Vassall in 1834 and had two children, Irving Vassall and Bernard Barton Vassall (1835).
