Keith and his sister Doris had a happy childhood at 32 Kingsway Ave, Sandringham with their parents Gordon and Daphne. The young Keith was a keen sportsman and athlete. He joined the New Zealand Railways in 1937 and worked for them for 40 years, making many close friends among his workmates and their families. Keith and Margery Brown were married in 1940. They had three children, Dennis, Gary and Karen and fostered Margery’s niece Lorraine for some years. The family grew up in Mamaku, Rotorua, Helensville and Hillsborough. Keith and Margery spent their retirement years in Mt Albert and Epsom. They enjoyed time with Lorraine, her husband Bill Mayo and son Vincent while they were in New Zealand and again in San Diego. Karen married Bruce and the arrival of two grandchildren brought much pleasure. His birthdays were always celebrated with a family lunch and a special cake. Keith French is remembered as a devoted family man, loved and respected by all who knew him.
