Sgt Peer Jan Hendrickse

Peer was a soldier in the American Revolution in Colonel Cragier's regiment and took part in the rescue of the women and children captured in the Esopus raid on Wiltwyck, June, 1663. Among those rescued was Tjaatje Dewitt, who would later marry Matthys Matthyssen, Annetje's brother and progenitor of the Van Keuren family.

Their marriage is recorded in Hoes as #24 on page 502. Their names were recorded as "Jan Hendricz and Annetje Matysz" in the baptismal record for their son, Jan. Annetje had a brother Matthys Matthyssen.
