About Sgt. Thomas White, of Braintree
He was made a freeman of the Colony Oct.12,1681, came to Braintree before 1693 when he was elected tithingman. He took the oath of allegiance at Braintree as a Braintree resident about 1678 (Vol.29 Boston Record Comm. Reports).
S.P.16-146: Will of Thomas White of Braintree "being weak" etc. To wife Mary, half my housing & lands adjoining, both upland & meadow on both sides of the way, not before given, and 2 cows, 6 sheep, one of my best swine & half household goods to be at her dispose. To son Thomas as addition to what already, which is considerable, a piece of salt marsh 1 acre adjoining his meadow & 5 or 6 acres fresh meadow & upland lying upon Smelt Brook river adjoining his own land extending to a rocky run northerly and so upon a square line to Smelt Brook river, & 1/4 part of my out woodlands and cedar swamp & £36 in money. To son Samuel, half a piece containing about 20 acres adjoining his home lands, south on land of Col. Hunt, & half a piece of salt marsh bought of William Veasey & 1/4 of my outlands and cedar swamp. To son Joseph, half the piece of land adjoining my son Samuel's homeland bounded Southerly on Col. Hunt, containing about 20 acres & half a piece of salt marsh bought of William Veasey & 1/4 of outlands & cedar swamp. To son Ebenezer, half my housing & lands adjoining, on both sides of way both upland and meadow, to be enjoyed by him immediately after my decease & other half after my wife's decease & 1/4 part of outlands & swamp provided he pay £10 after my wife's decease to whom she shall dispose of it in her life time, and also £10 to my grandson Thomas White, son of son Thomas and also 40 shillings to each of the eldest of my grandchildren of my sons & daughters at 21. To daughter Mary Holbrook, my young orchard containing 3 acres adjoining my homelands & my great brass kettle & my cow. Remainder of moveables to my four sons equally.
