Brief overview:

Shaun (48), was attacked and murdered on Mitchell’s Bon Farm, in Kwelera, on Thursday 19th September 2019.

“It appears he was ambushed at the feedlot by a number of people we suspect were involved in cattle theft. “Early on Friday morning, we tried to contact him, but both his phone and radio were off.” said Krull’s distraught brother Alwyn in an interview at midday on Friday. He said a fence worker discovered Krull’s body lying on the ground. “He had been stabbed several times and it seemed they ran over his body with his bakkie, which they then drove off in.”

Two men were arrested in Middledrift on Saturday morning, 21st September. One of the suspects is a 26-year-old cattle herder who was recently fired by Krull from Mitchell’s Bon Farm. East London police spokesperson Captain Hazel Mqala said Krull’s Toyota Hilux single cab 4X4 bakkie was recovered hidden at a field in the deep rural areas of Ngqolowa area, in Middledrifft on Saturday morning. “This field is near the residential place of one of the suspects who worked for the deceased before he was dismissed.” The police searched the former farmworker and recovered Krull’s farm keys, his torch and meat possibly bought by Krull. A second suspect is 23-years-old. A third suspect fled from the police. “The locked vehicle was towed to the police forensic services experts in East London. Thorough investigation will be conducted.” “A third suspect who has been identified unfortunately ran away when the team was approaching the homestead.” He will be traced and arrest soon, promised Mqala. There was no word on Krull’s missing 9mm firearm, cellphone and wallet. Gonubie police station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Tolisile Mdyogolo commended the members for the arrest.

Update 01/02/2022: Vizicelo Wokisi (27) and Zolani Losi (26) were sentenced to life in prison for the murder, as well as 15 years in prison for robbery with aggravating circumstances, seven years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and five years in prison for illegal possession of ammunition. The sentences are served concurrently.

  • 25/01/2022: Two men who conspired with a third accomplice were sentenced to life imprisonment in the High Court in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).Vizizelo Wokisi (27), Xhanti Ndingane (30) and Zolani Losi (26).
