Obituary:
"Sidney S. Ford, one of the very first settlers of Chehalis County, for whose father Ford's Prairie was named, died Monday at his home near Summit. Mr. Ford was a fine sample of the sturdy pioneers who settled this country, and by his uprightness and integrity had made a host of friends. He always took a deep interest in public affairs and served several terms as chairman of the board of county commissioners."- Aberdeen Herald, April 19, 1900
His Middle Name: I have seen many internet family trees listing a middle name "Smith" but to date I have not seen a true source document confirming that. All documents I have seen only list the middle initial "S." So to avoid perpetuating possible rumor and speculation, for now I'm leaving the middle initial as "S." I know that the book "Centralia-The First Fifty Years," uses "Smith" as his father's middle name but that book is a collection of anecdotal information and in addition to some great stories, it also has errors, misspellings, and other issues you would expect to find in a student-produced publication. If you find an actual source document (e.g. a will, family bible, government document) listing "Smith" I would love to see it. Thank you. (Find A Grave)
