S. Strakosch was in retail in Australia during the 1850s (mentions of him, as S. Strakosch or Sigismond Strakosch, appear in the Australian digital newspaper archive. He was involved in a lawsuit against another trader in May 1959; was in Insolvents Court in Melbourne, Australia in July 1859, with "several debts proved"; see The Age of Melbourne. The Argus of Melbourne, Australia, reported on February 17, 1860 that he Sigismond Strakosch was formally declared insolvent. On March 20, 1860 in The Age, Melbourne, his Estate was referred to as Insolvent; same on July 10, 1863 in The Argus. He must have left Australia and returned to Austria, since he had children born in Vienna in the late 1860s and 1870s:

• 1868 Phöbe Anna Strakosch, born July 3, 1868 Num. 4812 and died 1874 in Vienna. Parents were Sigmund Strakosch & Frances geb. Jacobs.
• 1873 Num. 4830, Wien: Strakosch, Otto Leopold: Sigismund/Jacobs Frances. Appears to say Butschkowitz
• 1876 Num. 3814, Wien: Strakosch, Julie Luise: Sigismund/Jacobs Frances

Other children included Edgar Strakosch, born in Australia in 1859, whose 1889 marriage record gave his parents' names as Sigismund Strakosch and Frances geb. Jacobs (his 1920 census entry says she was born in England).

Sig[is]mund (who must have been Samuel) Strakosch and Frances Jacobs are not in Brno Marriages, although Samuel's brother Ferdinand Strakosch and wife Marie Jakobs (of Bath, England) are.
