About Sigvart Siverts. Nygaardsvig. Larsen
Sigvart Siverts. Nygaardsvig used his stepfather's name LARSEN after the family arrived in South Africa. His children were all registered in South Africa under the name LARSEN
David Victor Larsen wrote: Sivert Andersen Hordnes was the first husband of Marie Elizabeth. They had three sons. Sigvart Sivertsen Nygaardsvig (my grandfather) was one of the three sons. When Sivert drowned in the Korsfjorden, near the entrance to the Fana fjord, his widow Marie Elizabeth married her second cousin Fredrik Larsen. A few years later the family sailed to South Africa on the ship Debora. Fredrik adopted Marie's three sons who later used the name LARSEN. But their real names remained their birth names. However their children (including my father) were registered at birth with the name LARSEN. The twins Sigvart and Emil were Natal photographers who later settled in both Vryheid and Charlestown.
