Silas Sanford Smith, Jr.

Silas Sanford Smith, Jr. (1853 - 1911), son of Silas Sanford Smith and Clarinda Ricks, was born 10 July 1853 at Parowan, Utah Territory; he died 19 January 1911 at Rexburg, Idaho.

President YMMIA at Paragonah 1875-78. Called to assist Jesse N. Smith in colonizing Arizona 1878, returning to San Juan County, Utah, in 1879. Counselor in presidency YMMIA of Manassa ward; bishop’s counselor 1881; clerk Manassa ward eight years; high councilor; missionary to southern states 1900-02. Moved to Rexburg, Idaho, 1906, where he served as USA commissioner, police judge and city clerk.
