About Simon Anthony Flynn

From Simon's eulogy:
Simon was a resident and caretaker of Crater Valley for 19 years, living at the Huts from 1970 to 1989, prior to the area's management by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. He was a dedicated lover of native flora, a gifted artist, musician and instrument maker, with a flair for electronics and alternative energy systems. Simon contributed significantly to the preservation of the Huts, advocating through the courts, the media and local networks for their continued existence, guardianship and care.

There is a remembrance plate of Simon's hut, set in place by his many friends, committing his ashes to the sea at Crater Cove, as was his wish.

After being evicted as a result of the Cove being moved from Dept.Defence to Environment, he moved around Australia, finally settling at St Mary's in Tasmania which reminded him of the Cove.
