About Sir Alexander Cumming, 3rd Baronet
Biographical Summary
"Sir Alexander Cumming, Baronet [S. 1695], only s. to and h., b. about 1737 ; was a Capt. in the Army, being in 1779 on half pay at the rate of more than £20 a, year; suc. to the Baronetcy, 23 Aug. 1775. Was nominated a Pensioner of the Charter House 1779 and 1789, but refused each time on ground of his half pay. He, subsequently, became deranged, and d. unm. in a state of great indigence, near Red Lion street, Whitechapel, when the Baronetcy became dormant or extinct."
