1 May 1591: Extract bond and letter of excambion by Mary Quhytlaw and Hercules Stewart, her spouse, to Alexander Hammiltoun of Innerwik, Margaret Quhytlaw, sometime his spouse, Andrew Ker of Rolmannogrange and Isobel Quhytlaw, his spouse, whereby they accept the lands of Quhytlaw and the lands of Eister Dene with the pendicles now called Scottistoun and Prattishill (sheriffdom of Peebles), in satisfaction of their third of the lands of Fentoun Tour called Over Sydserf, Skreling, Midfentoun, Mediltoun in Strabrok and Kirkland of Cowbrandspeth, formerly pertaining to the deceased Sir Patrick Quhytlaw of that ilk. 15 November 1610: Charter under the Great Seal of Scotland which confirms Thomas Erskine, Sheriff of Fentoun, in possession of various lands. The charter identifies Sir Alexander Hamilton of Fenton as the lawful eldest son of Sir Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick and his wife Margaret Quitlaw. It also identifies Margaret as the eldest lawful daughter of the deceased Patrick Quhitlaw of that Ilk. George Ker is identified as the eldest lawful son of Sir Andrew Ker of Fenton and his wife Isobellam Quhitlaw, the second lawful daughter Patrick Quhitlaw of that Ilk. Lady Maria Quhitlaw, Patrick's youngest daughter, is identified as the wife Sir William Home of Quhytlaw: "quarum, de rege in alba firma tentarum, unam tertiam partem D. Alexander Hammiltoun de Fentoun miles (filius legit, natu maximus procreatus inter Alex. H. de Innerwik militem et Margaretam Quhitlaw ejus sponsam, seniorem trium heredum et tiliarum quoud. Patricii Q. de eodem), alteram Geo. Ker (filius legit, natu maximus procreatiis inter D. And. K. de Fentoun et Issobellam Quhitlaw ejus sponsam, seeundam filiam dicti Pat.), reliquam tirtiam partem Domina Maria Quhitlaw filia natu minima dicti Pat. ac spousa D. Willelmi Home de Quhytlaw militis, resignaverunt; — et quas omnes rex incorporavit in liberam baroniam de Fentountoure, ordinando fortalicium de Fentountoure principale fore messuagium : — Reddend. 6 den. argent nomine albe firme".
