Who for his attachment to his Sovereign ye unfortunate Richard the 2nd was beheaded Anno 1399 together with ye Dukes of Surrey and Exeter, ye Earls of Gloster, Huntingdon and others, was nominated by ye King for a Knight Companion of ye Most Noble Order of ye Garter but ye tragical end of ye Prince prevented Sir Benedict from being elected and installed. Son of ye Viscount de CAILLY, went to England with ye Conqueror 1066 and was at ye memorable battle of Hastings where King Harold was slain.
