Mr. Hugh Ross the Author of the Genealogy of the family of Kilravock conjectures that Sir David Grahame had a Son Patrick and which is Indeed Certain but it would appear this Author thinks that Mary Bisset his wife married the Fraser for her second husband and that her son Sir Patrick Grahame dying, the children of her second husband the Frasers succeeded to the estate of the house of Lovat. But it is much more likely that Sir David's daughter or his grandchild Sir Patrick's daughter married Sir Simon Fraser of Kinell who was a branch of the family of Fraser, tho by the most exact rules of cronologie she has been Sir David's daughter and sister to Sir Patrick since the heir of the marriage. "Sir David Graham married into the ancient Celtic Earldom of Strathern and acquired land around Kincardine in south Perthshire."

Sir David de Graham, who appears to have held the office of sheriff of the county of Berwick, acquired from Malise, Earl of Strathearn, ther lands of Kincardine, in Perthshire, which became one of the chief designations of the family. He died about 1270. By his wife, Annabella, daughter of Robert, Earl of Strathearn, he had three sons, namely, Sir Patrick, who succeedee him; the celebrated Sir John the Graham, the companion of Wallace; and Sir David, one of the nominees, his eldest brother being another, of Baliol, in his competition for the crown of Scotland, 1292.[http://www.electricscotland.com/webclans/dtog/graham2.html]

3 - Burkes Peerage 1934 (Montrose) and The Scots Peerage (Montrose) disagree here as Burkes inserts this Sir David of Dundaff and shows that David as husband of Annabella of Strathearn whom The Scots Peerage shows as wife of SIr Patrick of Kincardine. There is therefore some difference in allocation of children, the most 'important' one possibly being the John who became Earl of Menteith.

Various sources indicate that his wife was Annabella, daughter of 4th Earl of Strathearn. The Scots Peerage (Strathearn) specifically contradicts this and reports "the evidence is clear that she was the wife of his son Sir Patrick". [Stirnet Graham01]

David was also Sheriff of Berwickshire. He witnessed a grant in 1260. He obtained a charter for all of his lands from King Alexander III, and acquired the lands of Kincardine in Perthshire from his brother-in-law Malise, 5th Earl of Strathearn. The arms of David's second son, Sir John Graham of Dundaff, who was killed fighting alongside William Wallace when he was defeated by the English at the Battle of Falkirk on 22 July 1298

Sir David Graham of Dundaff was the son of Sir David de Graham of Dundaff. He married Annabelle of Strathearn, daughter of Robert, 4th Earl of Strathearn. He died circa 1270. He held the office of Sheriff of Berwickshire.1 He lived at Kincardine, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Between 1249 and 1286 he acquired a royal charter of all of his lands, and from the 5th Earl of Strathearn the lands of Kincardine, Perthshire.
