About Sir Ebenezer John Buchanan

Ebenezer John (Sir John) Buchanan (1844-1930), was a member of the Cape Bar from 1873 to 1880, acting Attorney General in Griqualand West from 1879 to 1880 and was, after only seven years in practice, appointed Judge in the Eastern Districts' Court.57 Subsequently he was transferred to the Cape Supreme Court Bench where he served from 1887 to 1920, often acting as Chief Justice during the absences of Lord Henry de Villiers.
